American Arium Releases SourcePoint 6.1 with Linux Target Debug

8/12/2004 - American Arium, an industry leader in software debug and integration tool development, announced the latest release of SourcePointTM 6.1, its flagship debug interface. SourcePoint 6.1, which supports ARM cores and Intel XScale® processors, offers a number of key features, including Linux OS target debug, extended code coverage, and upgraded target awareness capabilities.

"We're very excited about this release of SourcePoint," said Larry Traylor, Arium's CEO. "Our new Linux target debug solution lets developers see everything from the launch of kernel boot code through the beginning of the initial process, even on 'headless' targets. This and other new features are truly representative of our mission. We really do strive to meet and exceed the needs of hardware and software developers by providing them with the right tools to help them minimize their debug cycle."

"We believe SourcePoint 6.1 will be of enormous value to our customers," added Steve Blair, Vice President of Engineering. "In addition to Linux application-level debug support, 6.1 introduces code profiling. It's like performance analysis, which we introduced in 6.0, but profiling operates with targets that do not contain Embedded Trace Macrocells (ETMs). We've also improved target awareness, expanding the database to include emulator configuration parameters and information on device view files and event macros. SourcePoint 6.1 makes debugging code faster and easier than it's ever been."

The SourcePoint 6.1 hardware-assisted debug solution offers outstanding run control and exceptional trace functionality, giving the program and firmware developer unsurpassed visibility to and manipulation of code via a series of intuitive screens and dialogs with numerous viewing and customization options. SourcePoint supports industry-standard input file formats and includes a robust C-like command language. It operates in real time with all core frequencies and works with today's most popular compiler tool chains. SourcePoint 6.1 is available for Microsoft® Windows®- or Linux-hosted workstations.
