8/4/2004 - American Arium, an industry leader in software debug and integration tool development, announced support for the Intel® IOP332 Storage I/O processor, Intel's first I/O processor with PCI Express support.
"The IOP332 processor provides increased performance over previous generation I/O processors, yet with the same basic programming model," said Arium's Product Manager Todd Selbo. "Chances are developers will need to modify their software, and that's where Arium comes in."
Selbo was referring to SourcePointTM, Arium's hardware-assisted software debug interface and the company's emulators for Intel® XScale® and ARM cores. Arium solutions includes a number of state-of-the-art features, including SourcePointTM IDE (Integrated Development Environment) powered by Visual SlickEdit®, XScale trace, target awareness, and Linux OS support. SourcePoint can be hosted on either Microsoft® Windows® or Red Hat Linux.
"Having software debugging tools available for our customers coinciding with the introduction of new processors is key to our customers’ time to market success," said Dave Boehmer, director of Platform Applications and Engineering, Intel Storage Components Division. "Having the tools available when our customers need them is a key factor in enabling new technology adoption."
Arium's debug solutions incorporate state-of-the-art functionality and a feature-rich set of emulation functions for excellent manipulation of code. The emulators support Intel XScale I/O, application, network, and control plane processors. Arium solutions provide accurate breakpoint functionality and work with today’s most popular compilers. SourcePoint offers exceptional visibility to code via a series of intuitive screens and dialog boxes with numerous viewing options, incorporates real time XScale trace, and includes a robust command language.
The Intel IOP332 I/O processor features dual PCI Express to PCI-X bridges and CPU speeds up to 800 MHz. The processor is a highly integrated I/O system on a chip targeted for PCI-Express-based RAID on motherboard and PCI Express RAID adapter cards.
Arium SC-1000A and LC-500 emulators are available now. SourcePoint 6.0 is currently available; SourcePoint 6.1 is scheduled for release within the next 30 days. Contact American Arium for the latest updates.
