Condor Engineering Qualifies QPMC-1553 Board for Military Applications

8/2/2004 - Condor Engineering, a leading provider of military and commercial avionics databus solutions, announced that it has completed one of the most rigorous environmental test sets for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) embedded PMC MIL-STD-1553 interface cards. These tests were conducted using Condor's QPMC-1553 board.

The successful qualifications were guided by MIL-STD-810 requirements and included extended temperature tests from -40ºC through 90ºC (well beyond normal industrial temperature ranges) and vibration levels for both fixed and rotary wing environments. "These tests verified the QPMC-1553 card for the harshest environmental applications and provides our customers with a cost effective, feature rich 1553 product for airborne or land vehicle requirements," says Bill Schuh, Military Product Manager.

The QPMC-1553 card provides one to four channels of dual redundant 1553 Bus Controller, RT and/or Monitor interface busses with multiple avionics-level discretes. The card is available in commercial to conduction cooled grades, offers a high speed 66 MHz PCI interface and conforms to the MIL-STD-1553 Notice II, MIL-STD-1760 and Link-16 requirements. An extensive API is provided at no-cost with source code and includes device drivers for Windows, Solaris, Linux and most RTOS operating systems (such as VxWorks, LynxOS and QNX).
