DIGITAL-LOGIC and SYSGO Introduce Embedded Linux for Pentium-M Boards

8/2/2004 - DIGITAL-LOGIC AG, based in Luterbach / Switzerland, and SYSGO AG, headquartered in Mainz / Germany, have signed a cooperation which includes the porting of Linux for Pentium-M based smartModule SM855 products. The PC/104-Plus-Board MSM855 as well as the EBX-Board MSEBX855 are also integrated within the embedded Linux development environment ELinOS. The integration in ELinOS gives DIGITAL-LOGIC´s customers a comfortable access to developing embedded applications in Linux.

The agreement within the scope of the SYSGO Custom Board Support program includes the porting of Linux to the DIGITAL-LOGIC specific hardware, the support of all board-specific functions and the long-term integration of the platform in ELinOS with regular updates and the support of the end customer by SYSGO. "With the new boards MSM855 and MSEBX855 DIGITAL-LOGIC serves the market for safety critical applications," said Detlev Schaadt, CTO Safety Critical Applications at SYSGO. "With our long experience in software certification for safety relevant standards we will further intensify our cooperation with DIGITAL-LOGIC in the future."

Pentium M will be dominating the x86-based embedded applications to a large extend during the next ten years. With products based on the smartModule? concept by DIGITAL-LOGIC most applications are covered. „By cooperating with SYSGO we have acquired one of the leading suppliers of embedded Linux solutions as our partner. The access via the widely-used ELinOS as well as the comprehensive development support delivered by the experienced SYSGO team, ensures our customers an optimal backup for new, linux-based product solutions," said Andreas Geh, Key Account Manager at DIGITAL-LOGIC.

SYSGO AG was founded with a core staff of three employees in Mainz in 1991. Today, the company employs more than 50 people, has four facilities in Germany and has SESE AB as a subsidiary in Stockholm, Sweden. SYSGO was reincorporated as a joint stock company in October 2002. Object of the company is to supply basic and system software to support board and device manufacturers in developing embedded systems, i.e. complex electronic devices with own processors and appropriate operating system. With more than 50 employees SYSGO has more than 200 man years of experience with the operating system Linux in the embedded sector. Furthermore SYSGO has been the distributor of the real-time operating system LynxOS of LynuxWorks, Inc. since 1992. This operating system may be certified according to DO-178B and is mainly employed in safety critical applications like aerospace.
