7/23/2004 - A recent study conducted by Venture Development Corporation, "Signaling Products and Related Equipment in PSTN and Voice Over Packet Networks," shows shipments of SIGTRAN stacks to rise 25% between 2004 and 2006.
SS7 stacks fall into the category of "SS7-Enabling Equipment" in VDC market models and are split into three groups; SS7 stacks, SIGTRAN stacks and Broadband SS7 stacks. All three stack segments are dominated by sales to DC/TC OEM's, who modify and integrate stacks as part of a larger networking element. The ability of SIGTRAN stacks to enable development of enhanced voice-over IP and voice-over IP to SS7 integration is pushing OEM demand for SIGTRAN while eroding market share from core SS7 stacks.
Group Manager Chad Hart comments: "SIGTRAN growth specifically is being driven by surging demand for voice-over IP services and voice-over IP integration. A significant share of this growth is predicted to take place prior to 2006, after which price erosion will start to impact revenues."For more information about "Signaling Products and Related Equipment in PSTN and Voice Over Packet Networks," contact: Chad Hart, Datacom and Telecom Practice Director, 508-653-9000, Extension 126, email@example.com
