Parity Mirroring Between Controllers Results in Patent for Dot Hill

7/23/2004 - Dot Hill Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: HILL) announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted the company U.S. patent 6,766,491, entitled "Parity Mirroring Between Controllers in an Active-Active Controller Pair." The patent derives from Dot Hill's proprietary RAID controller technology, which it acquired along with Chaparral Network Storage in February of 2004.

"Each new patent award reinforces our ability to design and engineer faster, more efficient storage products as it builds our intellectual property portfolio," said Jim Lambert, president and chief executive officer of Dot Hill. "This patented technology provides performance enhancements that enable faster access to information."

The patented technology enhances performance for parity-based RAID arrays. Performance is improved by making write operations faster, which enables more data to be written to disk storage in the same amount of time.
