Intoto's ParentalCQ Monitors and Controls Web Content for Home Networks

7/21/2004 - Intoto Inc., a leading provider of integrated security, wireless and voice software platforms to networking equipment manufacturers, announced the availability of the ParentalCQTM software solution. ParentalCQ provides next-generation home networking security with advanced content control, filtering and monitoring. ParentalCQ and Intel® IXP4XX network processors enable residential gateway OEMs to upgrade existing product lines with complete Internet content filtering capabilities.

Intoto is showcasing the capabilities of ParentalCQ on Thursday, July 22, at a seminar at the Westin in Taipei, Taiwan. The seminar, on next-generation network gateways, is co-hosted by Intoto and Intel.

The ParentalCQ software solution has been pre-integrated with leading embedded operating systems as well as many popular processors and SoCs, including Intel® Architecture Processors such as the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor and the Intel® IXP4XX network processor product line.

“Combining Intoto’s ParentalCQ solution and Intel processors provides the performance and advanced web content control technology to enable equipment manufacturers to differentiate their gateway products,” said Doug Davis, vice president and general manager, Intel Infrastructure Processor Division.

Intoto’s ParentalCQ provides superior Internet access control and monitoring capabilities for home networks because it is part of the residential gateway rather than a host-based system which typically requires more maintenance and can be easily compromised. ParentalCQ’s technology is based on dynamic, multi-layered Web filtering technology and multiple service points located around the world. The service points constantly monitor, check and categorize Web sites, so that user policy enforcement is always up to date with changes that have taken place from moment to moment across the entire Internet. If a Web site does not exist in the database, it is dynamically rated and categorized on the fly.

“ParentalCQ uses the most effective categorization techniques available, providing parents with true peace of mind,” said Doug Makishima, Intoto’s vice president of marketing. “ParentalCQ can be integrated with Intoto’s leading iGateway RGSOHO software platform solution, allowing OEMs to build the most advanced gateways in the market today.”

The ParentalCQ Solution
The ParentalCQ solution includes integrated monitoring, filtering and access control platform software that runs embedded in a residential gateway, as well as a management software package that provides configuration and reporting capabilities. The ParentalCQ platform software provides superior content filtering because it operates at the network level at the single point of Internet access. The platform software is based on dynamic multi-layer Web filtering technology, which is more reliable than keyword search techniques or human URL review. The management software is a flexible and easy-to-use solution that provides centralized management of access for all computers and users in the home.
