7/21/2004 - Primagraphics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc., and a leading supplier of radar video and graphics display systems for military and civil applications, has secured a contract to supply the United States Navy with radar and video display subsystems for the Gun Weapon System Consoles being developed for the Aegis CG-47 Class Cruiser Conversion program.
Engineers at the U.S. Navy's Naval Surface Warfare Centre (NSWC), Dahlgren, VA, needed a new display subsystem to meet the requirements of the MK34 Gun Weapon System. The commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) subsystem would have to accept specialized radar video input formats, multiple camera video inputs, support for maps and numerous X-window graphics overlays - and provide real-time digital display recording.
NSWC selected Primagraphics as it was able to meet all the specifications and provide a technically superior, well integrated and highly cost-effective solution. The company also demonstrated a clear understanding of the technical requirements from the outset and has worked closely with the customer to develop a system that solves all of the display issues.
The Primagraphics subsystem utilises a variety of cards from the company's extensive COTS range including a Hawkeye single-board radar scan converter, a Cobra quad video windows card, a Panther display card, and a Sentinel record and replay system.
David Johnson, product manager at Primagraphics, said: "This is a significant order for Primagraphics and demonstrates, yet again, our ability to provide highly competitive and technically advanced naval shipboard solutions."
