BridgeCom Deploys Paradyne's Broadband Access Concentrators

7/20/2004 - Paradyne (NASDAQ: PDYN) announced that BridgeCom, a full-service integrated communications provider, has deployed business-class voice, data and Internet services in New York City and the greater New York metropolitan region using Paradyne’s broadband access platform. An established UNE-P service provider with 25,000 active customer locations, BridgeCom is leveraging Paradyne’s access platform to build a facilities-based footprint, and the Tekelec 8000 Multimedia Gateway and Tekelec 3000 Multimedia Gateway Controller softswitch to serve a suite of business-class voice and data services.

BridgeCom is deploying Paradyne’s next-generation Broadband Access Concentrators in central office sites throughout Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and Rockland to deliver multiple business-class services. Their service offering includes voice using both POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) and packet-based telephony over broadband, high-speed Internet and traditional T1 circuits. These services are deployed over the existing telephone wireline infrastructure, terminated in Paradyne Broadband Access Concentrators located throughout the metro region, and converted to efficient packet-based data.

In addition, Paradyne is providing BridgeCom with integrated access devices (IADs) used at the business subscriber’s site to connect voice telephone systems and data networks seamlessly into BridgeCom’s network.

“Paradyne offers the most flexible platform to meet the current and future needs of our business customers, ” said Brian Crotty, President of BridgeCom. “The combination of Paradyne for broadband access and Tekelec’s softswitch provides a robust set of services to meet today’s market demand.”

“BridgeCom and Paradyne are delivering the next-generation of telephony supporting packetization of voice and data at both the central office and the customer premise with termination in a next-generation softswitch,” said Sean Belanger, president and CEO of Paradyne. “We are proud to be part of the first regional market changeover from a UNE-P business to a facilities-based deployment.”
