National Instruments Introduces Smart Sensor Web Seminar Series

7/7/2004 - National Instruments and leading sensor vendors announce a free smart sensor Web seminar series, “Talk with the Expert,” on ni.com beginning in July. At these interactive events, experts discuss the industry impact of Transducer Electronic Data Sheet (TEDS) technology and demonstrate how to take a wide variety of measurements using Sensors Plug&Play products based on the recently passed IEEE 1451.4 standard. Participants in these events learn how to incorporate smart sensors into their measurement systems to simplify setup and increase accuracy. These “Talk with the Expert” seminars include:

  • Measuring Acceleration Using TEDS Sensors
Participants learn how to increase accuracy and simplify sensor system setup with applications for TEDS accelerometers, as well as how to automate measurements with NI LabVIEW graphical programming software and Sensors Plug&Play products.
Presented by Endevco, Dallas Semiconductor, National Instruments
    Date: July 21, 2004
    Time: 11:00 a.m. CST
  • Measuring Pressure and Temperature
Attendees learn how to choose the right pressure or resistance detector temperature transducer for any application, the measurement considerations to take into account when working with these sensors and ways TEDS technology benefits temperature and pressure measurements.
Presented by Honeywell Sensotec, Weed Instrument, National Instruments
    Date: July 28, 2004
    Time: 11:00 a.m. CST
  • Acceleration and Temperature Measurements
Engineers and scientists taking physical measurements such as acceleration or temperature learn how to select the correct sensor for a customized application and how Sensors Plug&Play products affect these types of sensors as well as data acquisition systems.
Presented by Kistler, Watlow, National Instruments
    Date: Aug. 4, 2004
    Time: 11:00 a.m. CST
  • Making Acoustic Measurements with TEDS Sensors
Participants explore how to make acoustic measurements with the latest TEDS sensors and how to automate measurements with LabVIEW graphical programming software. In addition, participants can learn how to increase accuracy and simplify the setup of microphone and sensor measurements with NI signal conditioning hardware and Sensors Plug&Play software and hardware.
Presented by PCB Piezotronics, National Instruments
    Date: Aug. 25, 2004
    Time: 11:00 a.m. CST
  • Measuring Load and Displacement
Experts explain how to choose an accurate load cell and linear-voltage differential transformer, and how to automate measurements with LabVIEW graphical programming software. Also, attendees learn how to increase accuracy and simplify the setup of load cell and sensor measurements with NI signal conditioning hardware and Sensors Plug&Play products.
Presented by Lebow, Macro Sensors, National Instruments
    Date: Aug. 25, 2004
    Time: 11:00 a.m. CST

About Sensors Plug&Play
Sensors Plug&Play products give engineers and scientists a competitive advantage by delivering unprecedented levels of productivity and accuracy to sensor measurements by reducing system setup time and eliminating manual data entry errors. National Instruments and several leading sensor manufacturers have recently introduced numerous new Sensors Plug&Play products including smart TEDS sensors, the TEDS library for NI LabVIEW, the SC-2350 and the SCXI-1314T to help increase sensor measurement accuracy.

About National Instruments
National Instruments (www.ni.com) is a technology pioneer and leader in virtual instrumentation – a revolutionary concept that has changed the way engineers and scientists approach measurement and automation. Leveraging the PC and its related technologies, virtual instrumentation increases productivity and lowers costs through easy-to-integrate software, such as the NI LabVIEW graphical development environment, and modular hardware, such as PXI modules for data acquisition, instrument control and machine vision. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, NI has more than 3,100 employees and direct operations in 40 countries. In 2003, the company sold products to more than 25,000 companies in 90 countries. For the past five years, FORTUNE magazine named NI one of the 100 best companies to work for in America.
