7/1/2004 - Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:PTEC) and Network Associates(R) have extended their partnership and will now offer a recovery and security software applications bundle through Merisel, Inc., a leading distributor of software licenses to U.S. resellers.
Merisel will immediately offer Phoenix FirstWare(R) Recover Pro Network and Network Associates McAfee(R) VirusScan(R) ASaP for resale to VARs and resellers to their small and midsize business (SMB) customers.
Phoenix Technologies Recover Pro Network is an easy-to-deploy, easy-to-use centralized recovery solution for networked PCs and is designed for small and medium businesses with limited IT staff. With the McAfee anti-virus managed service, customers can offload the burden and costs of managing anti-virus software because updates will be automatic.
"The Phoenix Technologies-Network Associates combination of recovery and security applications is an excellent addition to our offerings for SMBs," said Traci Barnett, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Merisel. "Our VARs and other resellers expect us to deliver technology that adds substantial value to their PC products, and PC recovery and virus protection are extremely important for SMBs. Because the Phoenix and McAfee recovery and protection solutions can be delivered into the installed user base, we are giving resellers a great opportunity to generate incremental revenue while they provide much needed technology to SMBs."
With Phoenix Technologies Recover Pro Network, IT administrators can help users restore systems to original factory settings or incremental images, as well as restore user data, all without a boot disk or recovery CD -- even if the user is disconnected from the network.
Using award-winning McAfee anti-virus technology, VirusScan(R) ASaP provides comprehensive, automatic protection for desktops and servers -- the most difficult part of the network to manage -- so users never have to worry about managing or updating their systems again. Using Rumor Technology, VirusScan ASaP delivers advanced automatic updating, protecting dial-up users and even those systems that do not have an Internet connection. Ideal for small- to medium-sized business, VirusScan ASaP lets companies outsource the management of anti-virus software, reducing operational costs and helping them focus on business success.
"Network Associates is pleased to be extending our partnership with Phoenix to provide valuable solutions for small and medium sized businesses," said Todd Gebhart, Senior Vice President of Sales for Network Associates. "McAfee's always-on security solutions provide SMB users with regular updates, and users will immediately recognize McAfee's solutions as an easy and powerful method to protect their businesses. Phoenix recovery technology is equally important to SMBs, who typically have no IT staff, so PC recovery must be quick, easy and cost-efficient."
"Our continued partnerships with Network Associates and Merisel strengthen our commitment to resellers and their need to drive more value into the PCs they sell," said Michael D. Goldgof, Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Products Division for Phoenix. "Networks of all sizes today must be comprised of systems that are secure, simple to use and easy to maintain. Together with McAfee and Merisel, we are helping our channel partners deliver that value in the PCs they sell to SMBs."
