6/28/2004 - Anritsu Company introduces the MS2721A, the first fully-functional handheld spectrum analyzer designed to conduct highly accurate analysis on the new wave of wireless signals, including 802.11a, 3G, ultra-wideband, and WiMAX. The next-generation of Anritsu's popular Spectrum MasterT family, the MS2721A is a small and easy to use handheld spectrum analyzer with unprecedented measurement capability for applications up to 7 GHz. Weighing in at less than 7 pounds, it is equally at home on the engineering bench and in the field.
Anritsu launches a new innovative platform with the MS2721A which makes it easier for engineers and field technicians to design, deploy, and optimize the performance of wireless devices and networks ranging from commercial to defense and public safety. With the MS2721A, wireless professionals can ensure the integrity of data/voice transmissions while also identifying interfering signals. These analysis capabilities are especially important due to the increased number of RF signals created by the roll out of new wireless infrastructures.
The MS2721A, which covers 100 kHz to 7.1 GHz, can make a number of measurements with a single button. These measurements include field strength, channel power, occupied bandwidth, adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR), and carrier to interference ratio (C/I). All measurements are conducted with a great deal of accuracy due to the high performance of the MS2721A. The spectrum analyzer has phase noise of at -100 dBc/Hz @ 10 kHz offsets, best in class DANL of -152 dBm at 2.2 GHz typically, and resolution bandwidth (RBW) range of 10 Hz to 3 MHz. It also has the fastest sweep speeds of any spectrum analyzer in its class.
Anritsu designed in a daylight-viewable 8.4-inch TFT color display for the MS2721A which has a customizable user interface in multiple languages. In addition to the large display, the compact design also features external and internal compact flash slots, as well as Ethernet 10/100 and USB 2.0 ports.
Housed in a rugged case, the MS2721A can withstand the harsh environments and terrain associated with field use. A Lithium-Ion battery is used to give the MS2721A long life, as well as durability. It also has a wide operating temperature range of -10º to +55º C.
The MS2721A will be available for delivery in 10-12 weeks.
