6/23/2004 - Ulticom®, Inc. (NASDAQ: ULCM), a leading provider of signaling software that enables mobility, location, payment, switching, and messaging services, announced that Marconi(London: MONI and NASDAQ: MRCIY) has deployed Ulticom's Signalware® SS7 and Signalware SIGTRAN products in their market-leading SCP and Parlay Gateway products. The Marconi Parlay Gateway, also known as the Applications Mediation Gateway (AMG), enables network operators to rapidly create and deploy new, next-generation revenue producing services. Marconi SCP and AMG products provide call handling, information and database capabilities for both fixed and mobile networks. The solution is currently deployed in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Both platforms offer service providers a comprehensive IN and/or Parlay solution, enabling over 40 revenue-generating IN services, including Virtual Private Network (VPN), Prepaid, and Call Forwarding, plus support for both Parlay and Parlay X APIs. Each product takes full advantage of Signalware's open platform features and global interoperability. These products use both SS7 and SIGTRAN to provide fault-resilient integration between traditional and next-generation networks.
Marconi has selected Signalware because of its integrated, multi-protocol, signaling support. Sharing a common API, Signalware SS7 and Signalware SIGTRAN accelerate Marconi's time-to-market and ease interoperability testing.
"Ulticom provides feature-rich, signaling solutions that enable us to develop new services to meet evolving market requirements for IN solutions," said Graham Francis, Future Network Intelligence Product Manager of Marconi. "Signalware's comprehensive APIs, fault resilience, and ultimate scalability make it the signaling solution of choice in the industry. Additionally, we have found great value in Ulticom's exceptional customer support and dedication to developing winning solutions for their customers."
"Migration to IP-based, multi-service network infrastructure places new demands on the role and interconnectivity of service delivery platforms in the new network," said Osman Duman, Vice President of Marketing at Ulticom. "We are pleased to be a trusted supplier of signaling solutions for Marconi to help meet the challenge."
Signalware software provides network equipment and service providers with the industry's most comprehensive, carrier-grade, signaling solution. The complete Signalware product suite includes Signalware SS7, SIGTRAN, SIP, and Gateway. It runs on open computing platforms including Solaris and Linux.
