Blue Chip Technology Receives Approval from NEC for Vario+

6/18/2004 - The NEC Plasma Display Corporation has recognised the Vario+ from Blue Chip Technology as an approved global 3rd party solution for driving graphical content across NEC’s range of 42, 50 and 61” high-definition screens.

NEC is committed to the development of industry-leading plasma display solutions, which support high-quality presentations across both private and public display applications. “In order to achieve the optimum performance from our XGA screens it is vital to use high-quality and carefully controlled media,” commented Simeon Joseph, Product Manager for NEC UK’s Business Equipment Division. “We are delighted to be working with Blue Chip Technology to deliver even greater functionality through its Vario+ plasma content engine.”

Designed specifically for driving content on plasma and other widescreen displays, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Vario+ is the benchmark engine for Digital Signage applications in retail, hospitality, transport and financial services. With a sleek profile of W425mm x H66mm x D245mm, the unit easily mounts on the rear of the plasma. It is equipped with Pentium® 4 processing power, Intel® Extreme Graphics® Dynamic Video and Zone Rendering technology, AGP and PCI expansion, 2GB of DDR SDRAM and a programmable hardware watchdog. The unit is available fully-image ready with Windows XP or Windows XP Embedded.

Blue Chip Technology is delighted by this accolade, since the NEC seal of approval is only awarded once products have passed a thorough evaluation procedure. “We work hard in partnering key industry players such as NEC, Omnivex and Microsoft to ensure our multimedia solutions stay best in class,” explained Lisa Walker, Blue Chip Technology Marketing Manger. She continued: “Digital displays have enormous potential to grasp the attention of an audience, communicating images and messages in new and innovative ways. In order to optimise investment in a high quality display such as a plasma screen it is vital to think about how to drive media to it. An effective engine such as Vario+ will ultimately improve the impact, performance and reliability of your display solution.”
