6/17/2004 - Texas Memory Systems, manufacturer of the World’s Fastest Storage®, announced that the RamSan-320 solid state disk has completed interoperability testing with McDATA’s portfolio of storage networking products as part of the McDATA OPENready® Tested program. This designation assures customers that McDATA and Texas Memory Systems products are interoperable and that they will not encounter some of the more frustrating and costly incompatibilities that are common in SAN infrastructures. Texas Memory Systems is currently the only solid state disk vendor qualified for McDATA’s OPENready certification.
Users with demanding SAN-based applications, such as databases, OLTP (online transaction processing), and OLAP (online analytical processing), can increase their performance and scale effectively with RamSan-320 storage. RamSan solid state disk is interoperable in heterogeneous SAN environments and is widely deployed across all major platforms and operating systems.
“This certification continues our goal of making RamSan solid state disks the fastest and most interoperable in the industry,” said Woody Hutsell, executive vice president at Texas Memory Systems. “We work closely with storage networking solution providers such as McDATA to ensure that our mutual customers experience maximum acceleration of their particular applications, with systems that are reliable and fully integrated.”
“Application, network and data stability and availability are two critical elements customers expect from McDATA and its OPENready partners,” said Matt Gale, group manager, OPENready Partnerships & Alliances, McDATA. “McDATA and Texas Memory Systems can now assure interoperability to customers who need to simplify, consolidate and integrate storage and servers, even as they increase performance and data usage. We are delighted to certify Texas Memory Systems as our newest OPENready Tested partner, and share their commitment to meeting the needs of users in demanding application environments.”
The RamSan-320 is the fastest solid state disk on the market. For frequently accessed data and performance-intensive applications, transaction and storage response times are critical. The RamSan has proven highly effective in overcoming these I/O bottlenecks. The RamSan-320 offers 250,000 IOPS and internal bandwidth of 3GB that can be shared effectively amongst multiple servers. The performance boost from the RamSan can enable higher transaction loads and support more users without resorting to additional servers, associated licenses and management overhead.

About Solid State Storage Technology
Solid state storage is similar to RAM cache. Unlike hard disk drives it does not use rotating media so data seeks are significantly faster. Because there are no drive heads to crash, solid state disks are also more reliable than typical hard drives. Solid state systems are much more about speed than capacity. They are typically deployed to accelerate demanding applications.
