Aerosonic Corporation Honors MEMSCAP with Cockpit Instruments Award

6/17/2004 - MEMSCAP (Euronext: MEN), the leading provider of innovative solutions based on MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) technology, announced it has won a Design In for cockpit instruments with Aerosonic Corporation (Amex: AIM), an American leading supplier of precision flight products for commercial, business and military aircrafts. According to this agreement, MEMSCAP will provide Aerosonic with its TP 3100 pressure module transducer that will be fully integrated into business and civil aircraft instruments.

Renowned for its innovative aerospace instruments and components over the past fifty years, Aerosonic produces a full line of mechanical and electro-mechanical cockpit instruments that include altimeters, airspeed indicators, rate of climb indicators, microprocessor controlled air data test sets, and a variety of other flight instrumentation. Many of these instruments require no backup power as they transfer valuable flight data to the pilot using only the air pressure (from the aircraft probes) as a power source. Aerosonic will be utilizing the MEMSCAP transducers on a new line of microprocessor-based instruments including a standby altimeter and airspeed being designed for the new Cessna Mustang.

"We selected the MEMSCAP Transducer because it provides us the accuracy and stability needed to exceed our customers expectations," says Mark Perkins, Executive Vice President of Aerosonic Corporation.

MEMSCAP very modular TP 3100 pressure transducer is designed for all the aeronautics control systems worldwide, from engine control, cabin pressure, air data, altimeters, air speed and space applications. Most cost-effective solution today on the market, the TP3100 fulfils all the highest requirements for stability, extreme accuracy and performance while bringing added functionalities such as small size and small weight and the ability to execute the widest range of measurements, from very high to low pressure. It has received the International DO178B level B from the Civil Aviation Authority in May 2004 (cf. MEMSCAP-May 12-press release).

"The experience gained since many years by MEMSCAP sensors for aeronautics and defence applications allows us today to offer the market a strategic range of products at very competitive prices. Providing the TP3100 to Aerosonic, leader in its field, is a reward of the excellency we continuously strive for" explains Per Arne Lislien, VP &GM of MEMSCAP Sensor Solutions business unit. "We look forward to intensifying this long term partnership with Aerosonic."
