Performance Technologies Introduces SEGway 6300 Mini-STP

6/15/2004 - Performance Technologies (Nasdaq NM: PTIX), a leading developer of platforms, components and software solutions for the communications, military and commercial markets, announced the development of the SEGway 6300 Mini-STP, the newest addition to the company's suite ( of fully functional signal transfer points (STPs) sized to meet the economic and networking demands of small and mid-sized carriers.

Performance Technologies' SEGway Mini-STPs ( are ideal solutions for carriers looking to minimize leasing costs but who cannot justify purchasing a high capacity STP. As the newest extension to this product line, the SEGway 6300 Mini-STP offers the same capabilities as higher capacity STPs but with lower link counts and a much lower price point. SEGway Mini-STPs also offer investment protection by supporting both legacy SS7 networks as well as SS7 transport over newer, lower cost IP networks.

"To remain competitive, carriers and service providers are seeking IP-based products to reduce costs associated with their SS7 network," said Deb Brunner Walker, product manager for Performance Technologies. "With our low-cost SEGway Mini-STPs, small and mid-sized carriers can now reduce expensive SS7 link leasing costs and manage their own network."

The SEGway 6300 Mini-STP is a carrier-grade, fully redundant system that can scale from 24 to 96 links. It supports a full range of hardware configurations for scalability as well as revenue-generating software options including Global Title Translation (GTT) for services such as toll free calling, local number portability and calling cards. The currently-available SEGway 6200 Mini-STP ( offers similar functionality, while handling up to 24 SS7 links.

The SEGway 6300 Mini-STP will be available in early fourth quarter 2004. Performance Technologies also offers world-class 24X7 customer support for all its SEGway signaling products ( For more information, contact
