6/11/2004 - Marimba, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRBA) announced that InfoCamere, the IT consortium managing and operating a national network system linking Italy's 103 Chambers of Commerce and 300 branch offices, has selected Marimba's Server Management products to deliver critical updates to servers across its multiple sites. The solution is being delivered by Marimba's local partner, Open Technology Experts, which is also helping InfoCamere manage the system implementation.
With Marimba's software management solutions, InfoCamere can automate time intensive, repetitive server administration tasks, and eliminate human errors from inventory, provisioning, packaging and auditing functions. From a centralized, Web-based console, InfoCamere can target remote servers and effectively deploy applications to them. A complete and clear view of the server landscape will also provide accurate software inventory, enabling the licensing and distribution of software to be fully automated.
InfoCamere's multi-platform infrastructure is built on more than 400 Unix, Linux and Windows NT/2000 servers and supports more than 600 software applications. Marimba's Server Management products will enable InfoCamere to keep its software and licensing up-to-date, while reducing the cost, complexity and time involved in such processes as removing and updating software across multiple end-points.
"With an infrastructure as diverse and disparate as InfoCamere, it's crucial for us to have an effective automation platform in place to manage our architectural complexity and systems heterogeneity," said Alessandro Lacquaniti, director of Service and Network Architectures at InfoCamere. "Marimba enables us to manage and distribute software, while keeping the whole process under strict control, making us fully confident of meeting the high level of service our customers require."
"InfoCamere was fully aware of the benefits of automating server and software management, but when the solution they had in place was no longer supported, they examined a number of other options," said Vieri Sacchi, CTO of Open Technology Experts. "We proposed Marimba as the solution, and InfoCamere has benefited from its ability to deliver all the required functionalities, including outstanding ease-of-use, reliability, and scalability."
Adrian Rayner, general manager of Marimba Europe states, "E-government is driving the requirement for effective IT solutions globally, and the situation in Italy is similar to the UK in this regard. We expect to see further sales opportunities in Italy and look forward to developing our business relationship with Open Technology Experts as we extend our reach to this market."
InfoCamere developed and manages the Network Information System linking Italy's 103 Chambers of Commerce and 300 branch offices. The high speed, highly secure network supplied by InfoCamere enables members of the public, local government bodies and businesses to gain immediate access to documents, databases and information stored within the Chambers' archives. Since 2000, InfoCamere is also a Certification Authority for digital signatures. Visit www.infocamere.it for more information.
