6/10/2004 - QNX Software Systems, a leading provider of realtime software and services to the embedded computing market, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Sachin Lawande to the position of vice president of engineering services. In this new role, Mr. Lawande will be responsible for pre- and post-sales customer support, custom engineering, system integration, design consulting, and training services.
Mr. Lawande has a wealth of experience in developing embedded systems and software. Before joining QNX, Mr. Lawande was responsible for development of networking and consumer electronics systems at corporate giants such as AT&T Bell Labs, U.S. Robotics, and 3Com. He was a key contributor to an array of leading-edge products, including the TotalControl remote access server, U.S. Robotics Sportster modems, and 3Com's Ergo product line. More recently, Mr. Lawande served as the director of product management at QNX, where he oversaw the market introduction of new operating system capabilities, such as power management, advanced graphics, and enhanced networking features.

Mr. Lawande holds two patents and is a founding member of COMPASS, a Chicago-area organization of embedded software and IT professionals. He earned his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern Illinois University.
