PLX and Mindshare Team for Second PCI Express Training Course

6/10/2004 - PLX Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLXT), the leading supplier of standard I/O interconnect silicon to the communications, server, storage, embedded-control, and consumer industries, and MindShare, Inc., the leading provider of technical training, announced the two companies will team to deliver their second comprehensive technical seminar on PCI ExpressTM technology. The June 16-18 course, scheduled to allow attendees of the PCI-SIG Developer’s Conference to attend both events, is taught by PLX and MindShare experts in PCI Express technology. The seminar was developed to provide the system- and board-design community with a detailed understanding of the rapidly emerging PCI Express architecture.

The course blends PLX’s and MindShare’s respective expertise in interconnect technology and technical education to provide attendees with in-depth information, example implementations and practical guidance in system designs based on PCI Express technology. The training also will feature hands-on labs enabling attendees to apply the knowledge gained from the course.“MindShare seminars are a tremendous resource for system designers to become current on a variety of technical subjects, ranging from microprocessors to leading interconnects such as PCI Express,” said Donovan Anderson, vice president of MindShare. “Our first PCI Express seminar at PLX was so successful in terms of attendance and feedback, it makes perfect sense to offer it again to an enthusiastic design community. As a bonus, it’s timed so that attendees of the PCI-SIG Developers Conference in San Jose can make the most of their trip; after attending the conference on Monday and Tuesday, they can attend the PCI Express seminar in nearby Sunnyvale for the next three days.”

Among the topics covered in the PCI Express seminar are:

The course also will cover implementation topics such as add-in cards, connectors, expansion modules, Hot Plug designs, and bridging devices (PCI/PCI-X to PCI Express).

Among the instructors of the course is Ravi Budruk, a senior staff engineer at MindShare with expertise in processor and computer technology, as well as interconnect architectures such as PCI, PCI-X, PCI Express, HyperTransport and IEEE 1394. Also presenting is Chris Youman, PLX PCI Express marketing manager, who’s held key positions at major semiconductor companies such as Advanced Micro Devices and LSI Logic.
