MontaVista Upgrades Graphics Tools for Linux Professional Edition 3.1

6/9/2004 - MontaVista Software Inc., the company powering the embedded revolution, announced it has upgraded its graphics feature pack – MontaVista Graphics for MontaVista Linux Professional Edition 3.1 (Pro). MontaVista Graphics is designed to enable graphical user interface (GUI) development for developers using MontaVista Linux to create advanced graphics-based applications.

MontaVista Graphics delivers a full graphics environment with state-of-the-art features to help developers to create graphics solutions for a wide variety of products. Based on the latest open source technology available today, MontaVista has molded a diverse set of components into a single, fully tested and supported graphics development toolkit. MontaVista Graphics 3.1 delivers powerful, network-enabled graphics based on the X Windows system. Well known and used for the past 15 years, X Windows provides sophisticated graphics features, in a modular package, designed to work across a wide variety of platforms. MontaVista Graphics also includes the Gtk+ 2 tool kit providing the widgets and tools needed to create sophisticated graphics applications. Freestyle font support, Pango for font rendering, and a choice of two window managers, IceWM and Matchbox, round out the package.

In this updated version of the product, MontaVista has updated all target components and added support for a new smaller footprint window manager, Matchbox. MontaVista has also added support for the ARM and SH architectures.

Current subscribers of MontaVista Graphics for MontaVista Linux Professional Edition 3.0 will be upgraded to the 3.1 versions of these graphics products at no additional cost.
