IDT Targets Standards-based Serial-switching Market

6/9/2004 - IDTTM (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; Nasdaq: IDTI), a leading communications IC company, disclosed that it has accelerated its entry into the standards-based serial-switching market with the addition of PCI Express technology licensed from Internet Machines Corporation and the integration of a team of seven design experts to its serial-switching division. The addition of this technology significantly accelerates the rollout of the company’s PCI Express products, expected to be unveiled later this year. Following the company’s April 2004 announcement to drive the standards-based serial-switching market through aggressive investments in technology, products, partnerships and standards, the disclosure underscores the company’s commitment to this strategy and further positions IDT as an emerging leader within the serial-switching space.

“IDT recently announced its entry into the standards-based serial-switching market with the goal to accelerate the shift from proprietary to standards-based implementations for switching and bridging solutions. Today’s announcement is an additional proof point to this strategic direction,” said Daryn Lau, vice president and general manager of the serial-switching division. “We are excited about the expansion of our technology and team and expect continued momentum throughout the coming months.”

The PCI Express technology licensed from Internet Machines Corporation and the new staffing resources complement the company’s internal efforts, and its existing switching and traffic management products and Advanced Switching (AS) IP. The IDT serial-switching division was launched in April 2004, seeded by both internal and external resources, including the acquisition of ZettaCom completed in May, to create standards-based products based on AS and PCI Express architectures.

“The investment in switching and bridging products based on the PCI Express architecture represents excellent growth opportunities for IDT, and specifically, for our division’s targeted applications within the communications, server and storage markets,” said Mario Montana, director of marketing for the IDT serial-switching division. “Our ability to leverage the new technology with our existing switching and bridging products will allow us to create high-value solutions that are aligned with our overall packet-processing initiative.”

About the PCI Express Architecture
The PCI Express architecture is an open-specification designed to address the wide range of current and future system interconnect requirements of multiple market segments in the computing and communications industries. The PCI Express architecture defines a flexible, scalable, high-speed, serial, point-to-point, hot-pluggable/hot-swappable interconnect that is software-compatible with PCI.
