6/8/2004 - Paradyne (NASDAQ: PDYN), a leading provider of broadband voice, data and video network access solutions, announced that Telekom Serbia has selected Paradyne’s Broadband Access Concentrator to deploy business-class broadband services over DSL. Telekom Serbia – the incumbent telecommunications operator in Serbia – is deploying Paradyne’s platform in their central office sites along with Paradyne’s iMarcTM intelligent endpoints at customer premises locations for businesses in need of cost-effective wide area networking and high-speed data communications services.
With Paradyne’s network access equipment and service level management system, Telekom Serbia is able to introduce a reliable and cost-effective service for branch office connectivity, high-speed Internet access, and frame relay over DSL. The complete Paradyne solution enables Telekom Serbia to aggregate massive deployments of frame relay traffic from SHDSL endpoints through Paradyne’s Broadband Access Concentrators with single uplink to one STM-1 port in the provider’s ATM backbone network.
This highly efficient, scalable architecture releases hundreds of ports on frame relay switches, allowing Telekom Serbia to offer high-quality business class frame relay services with routing capabilities and Quality of Service (QoS), dramatically reducing equipment costs and operational expenses of traditional circuit-based switching. Paradyne’s service level verification features, which are incorporated into the iMarc series of SHDSL endpoints, provides Telekom Serbia with a system to measure network performance and guarantee Service Level Agreements unlike any other solution available today.
“Telekom Serbia’s end-to-end broadband network deployment for business class services puts them at the forefront of next-generation networking in Eastern Europe,” said Sean Belanger, president and CEO of Paradyne. “Paradyne’s end-to-end solution, and our extensive background in operational management, are a natural fit for their objective to deliver guaranteed QoS, and we’re excited about the opportunity to play an important role in expanding the capabilities of their broadband services.”
Paradyne channel partner Pupin Telecom DATACOM is providing important product integration and hands on support for this major network development.
