Agilent Rolls Out Telecom Cost Management Solution for Monitoring QoS
6/2/2004 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced a cost management solution that monitors signaling system 7 (SS7) data so wireline and wireless telecommunications service providers can measure the quality of service (QoS) delivered by their partner operators' networks. The Agilent OSS Traffic QoS Manager can also monitor home network gateways to manage and report on network performance, which is a vital component of profitable corporate service level agreements (SLAs).
The system enables both real-time and historic reporting of network performance. By managing QoS in real time, service providers can react swiftly to failures or performance degradations in interoperator networks by re-routing traffic in the short term. The system's historical function enables service providers to monitor SLA targets for higher profit and provides accurate data to manage SLA compliance disputes. For a competitive edge in negotiating new interconnect contracts, service providers can accumulate data over the long term to assess the overall performance of each interconnect partner.
"Using Agilent's system, a leading European service provider increased international call completions by 2 percent, adding millions of euros in revenue," said Tom Walls, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Telecommunication Systems Division. "We've given them the revenue assurance tools to select interconnect partners based on proven performance and to re-route traffic quickly when problems occur, generating increased customer satisfaction and additional revenues."
Agilent's suite of revenue assurance solutions includes the following:
- Agilent OSS Traffic QoS Manager -- Interoperator QoS and SLA management solution that extends Agilent's existing revenue assurance portfolio into cost management, enabling near real-time and historical monitoring of QoS delivered by interconnected operators.
- acceSS7 AMAT7 ITU -- International interconnect, or interoperator, billing solution that enables service providers to collect data about other operators' usage of their SS7 signaling network and bill for that usage.
- acceSS7 Interconnect Analysis -- U.S. interconnect billing solution that monitors all inbound and outbound interoperator traffic to combat arbitrage and ensure maximum billing revenue.
- acceSS7 CDR7 -- U.S. interconnect billing solution that enables service providers to collect data and bill for other operators' usage of their network.
