5/27/2004 - Solid Information Technology Corp., the first provider of an Autonomic Data Management Platform, and Hotsip AB, a leading provider of infrastructure and multimedia applications for large-scale SIP-enabled networks, announced the inclusion of Solid BoostEngine(TM) data manager in Hotsip’s SIP and Presence Server products for increased performance and carrier-grade availability.
Based on the open SIP standard (Session Initiation Protocol), Hotsip(R) Multimedia Communications Engine M2CE(TM) is a platform for real-time multimedia communication services. Solid BoostEngine, a standards-based SQL data manager designed for highest performance applications, ensures its carrier-grade availability and scalability. Hotsip products enable broadband telephony, video telephony, instant messaging, personal call handling and presence services over fixed and wireless IP networks.
“High availability and high performance are key enablers for reliable multimedia communication and presence services,” said Kenneth Gustafsson, CEO of Hotsip AB. “Based on thorough evaluation of both our existing data management system and several others on the market, Solid BoostEngine with CarrierGrade Option proved to offer unmatched performance and reliability. With Solid powering the next generation of Hotsip products, we look forward to introducing a line-up that will further strengthen our leading position in the market.”
“The adoption of Solid BoostEngine in Hotsip's SIP and Presence Server product lines is evidence of the perfect fit of Solid’s data management technology for challenging telecom solutions,” said Vesa Tuomisto, Vice President EMEA of Solid Information Technology. “The Solid in-memory database technology gives Hotsip the data management speed they require, and the high availability option gives them the reliability they demand. We are pleased to be selected as the provider of the data manager embedded in Hotsip's solutions to provide exciting IP-based multimedia applications.”
Solid BoostEngine, a part of Solid’s industry-first Autonomic Data Management platform, allows Hotsip to specify the location of data on disk or in memory, table by table, for optimal application performance and cost efficiency. High availability is ensured with Solid CarrierGrade Option, an add-on component to Solid BoostEngine that maintains a pair of hot standby databases in exact synchrony. In case of machine failure, applications can switch over to the surviving database in a few tens of milliseconds.
Hotsip SIP and Presence Server M2CE and the software client Hotsip(R) Active Contacts(TM) PC are targeted to service providers, system integrators and OEMs. Current Hotsip customers include Japanese Bell Net, the Nordic service provider TeliaSonera, and Ericsson.
Solid develops and markets the first carrier-grade Autonomic Data Management platform that delivers embedded data management, high availability and distributed data replication. Solid’s technology powers telecommunications infrastructure in fixed and wireless network devices; billing and management ystems for network elements; high-end network application servers, services and switching software; as well as telematics applications such as fleet management.
About Solid Autonomic Data Management Platform(TM)
The Solid Autonomic Data Management Platform is the first example of a data management solution that assures developers the data will take care of itself. The Solid platform supports the creation of applications that are self-configuring, self-healing, self-optimizing and self-protecting. The Solid Autonomic Data Management Platform is a software suite made up of three tightly coupled components:
This optimized combination is encapsulated in a low-maintenance framework to create an easy-to-manage platform that can take care of sophisticated data management needs in complex environments like network infrastructure applications running on blade servers. Solid customers realize dramatically reduced cost of development and reduced time to market. Their customers see a compellingly low total cost of ownership (TCO).
Solid Information Technology Corp. delivers the first next-generation Autonomic Data Management Platform. Built on a sophisticated architectural foundation, Solid’s solutions power inherently distributed applications in the network infrastructure, telematics, digital content delivery and retail applications. Small and large visionary companies including EMC, Hewlett-Packard, NEC, Nokia, Nortel, Siemens, and Sonim Technologies use Solid technology in their solutions to build high-performance, fault-tolerant, and scalable smart applications. Solid is a privately held company with worldwide headquarters in Mountain View, California. The company also has regional offices in the U.S., Europe, and Japan.
