5/24/2004 - Bucking the trend of extended delivery lead times in the embedded COTS marketplace, Thales Computers has announced the launch of its new Fast Track COTS delivery program which ensures delivery of the company's three newest and highest-performance COTS single board computers in just two weeks or less. The Fast Track COTS program, which is effective immediately, is aimed primarily at supporting fast-turnaround prototyping needs. It currently provides guaranteed two-week delivery for up to five boards of each of the three SBCs; the program will eventually be extended to other boards and systems.
The boards covered by this new program include Thales Computers' PowerEngine7, offering a 733 MHz PowerPC 750X processor, 256 MB SDRAM and 64 MB FLASH; the PowerNode3 with dual 1 GHz PowerPC G4 processors, 512 MB SDRAM, 64 MB FLASH, L3 2 MB cache memory per processor and 2 MB SRAM; and the V4G4c offering quad 500 MHz PowerPC G4 processors, 512 MB SDRAM and 32 MB FLASH. All three boards offer low power consumption and support the 2eSST protocol, providing even higher performance than competitive boards.
In announcing the new program, Tom Hall, President of Thales Computers, Inc., said "As an acknowledged leader in the development of SBCs for the COTS marketplace, we recognize that it's essential to deliver our advanced technology in a timely manner so our customers can meet their prototyping needs as expeditiously as possible. To that end, and to meet the increasing demand for our SBCs, we've undertaken an inventory management procedure which ensures necessary stock of all three boards in quantities to meet all anticipated customer needs."
