5/18/2004 - Jim Peterson has joined Catalytic Inc., the company creating digital signal processing (DSP) design automation software, as vice president of engineering. He reports to Dr. Randy Allen, Catalytic Inc.'s founder and chief executive officer (CEO).
Peterson has more than 30 years of experience in the management of computer software and hardware development. For the last 15 years, he has specialized in web technologies and electronic publishing for enterprise software. Most recently, Peterson was vice president of engineering and product management at Remedy, a BMC Software Company building enterprise class information technology (IT) service management and customer support solutions.
"Jim Peterson's strong technical background and extensive engineering management experience make him a key addition to the Catalytic team," says Dr. Allen. "His expertise in bringing complex and highly successful software products to market will enhance Catalytic's strong commitment to creating world-class products."
Prior to Remedy, he was vice president of engineering operations at Liberate Technologies, a developer of internet-based middleware for enhanced interactive television. Previously, he directed engineering efforts for various Adobe Systems products, including FrameMaker and PostScript.
Peterson has a bachelor's degree in applied physics from the California Institute of Technology, as well as a master's degree in engineering from UCLA.

Catalytic Inc. is creating DSP Design Automation software, speeding development of DSP applications by creating an efficient path from algorithmic specification to implementation. Its software products will be introduced later in 2004.
