5/11/2004 - NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS), provider of communications technologies and solutions for next-generation enhanced services and efficient networks, announced the availability of a new Open Access platform, the TX 4000 series enabling telecom OEMs to rapidly develop SS7 Intelligent Peripherals, Service Nodes and Service Control Points for use in carrier networks. The TX 4000 series with SS7 v.4, with patented high availability redundant architecture and flexible software, is, like all Open Access offerings, highly scalable and supports large numbers of subscribers. The platform offers over four times the SS7 message processing capacity of predecessors, supports the broadest range of operating systems in the industry, and is designed for easy deployment in any network, anywhere in the world.
Siemens' (NYSE: SI) Mobile Networks is one of the first NMS customers to use the new TX 4000 series with SS7 v.4. For OEMs and their operator customers, these high-performance Open Access building blocks reduce the cost and increase the density of SS7-enabled infrastructure elements that are essential to the deployment of enhanced services including personalized mobile entertainment, voice messaging, one-number-follow-me, pre-paid mobile services, chat and instant messaging.
SS7 provides rapid access to the database lookup capabilities on which these services depend, using call control and messaging functions between the network and Service Nodes or Intelligent Peripherals. With the new TX 4000, more than 1000 such query/response transactions can be processed per second, with full node redundancy support and check-pointing for carrier grade high availability.
SigValue Technologies is another global customer using the TX 4000 with SS7 v.4. "The new TX 4000 board will enable SigValue Technologies to leverage its next generation IN Services Platform to comply with Tier 1 operators' demands for more than 4 millions IN calls per hour on a single shelf, and to simultaneously provide, on the same platform, a broad offering of new services like ringback tones, pre-paid, and Virtual Cellular PABX " said Yuval Mayron, CTO, SigValue Technologies. "We've come to count on NMS for platforms built on leading-edge technology with great price/performance and terrific technical support that let us focus on our solution and on making it easy for our customers to be successful."
