5/5/2004 - Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTEC), the company driving the global core system software standard in PC systems and connected digital devices for 25 years, has launched its Preferred System Builder Program. The new program delivers product discounts, special support, collaborative marketing, beta programs, expert FAE sponsors and other benefits to eligible top-tier system builders, including Able Computers, CSI, Daewoo, Systemax and many others. Membership is open to companies in the Phoenix Trusted Partner Network.
Phoenix has been rapidly expanding its presence in the system builder channel, which accounts for 58 per cent of global PC sales. As a result, a growing number of system builders worldwide are adopting Phoenix FirstWare® applications into their systems. The addition of these applications offers PC users better quality and reliability. It also increases worker productivity while reducing support costs because Phoenix FirstWare applications enable users to check and recover their systems with little or no technical support and without recovery CDs or an Internet connection.
"Our new program helps system builders gain a competitive edge, decrease their time to market and differentiate their brands," said Michael Goldgof, Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Products Division for Phoenix. "System builders are a significant channel for our business. We will continue to support them by delivering innovative technologies that can be built in to protect systems and data from outside threats and make systems more user-friendly and reliable."
Preferred System Builder Program benefits include:
Phoenix FirstWare applications extend the capabilities of intelligent digital devices, including PCs, embedded devices and information appliances. These applications reduce manufacturing and support costs for OEMs, "white box" manufacturers, system builders, resellers and distributors while providing more user value. This added value is delivered through instant-on applications that help diagnose, connect and recover systems without boot disks or recovery CDs. The applications include Phoenix FirstWare Recover, Recover Pro, Recover Pro Network, Vault, Connect, and Check. In addition, Phoenix FirstWare Assistant provides instant pre-boot access to Microsoft Outlook email and PIM data, allowing a laptop to deliver PDA-like capabilities.
Phoenix FirstWare applications are accessible in the pre-boot environment through Phoenix cME Console, which extends the system builder's brand into the Core System Software. It also authenticates valuable OS and application services to ensure that Phoenix FirstWare applications are always secure and available.
Founded in 1979, Phoenix Technologies (NASDAQ: PTEC) helped launch the digital revolution when it created the industry's leading machine-independent BIOS software, which ships in more than 100 million new systems each year. Phoenix leveraged that core-level experience to develop Core System Software, which moves beyond BIOS for the age of networked devices. Phoenix solutions activate, secure, connect, and recover the world's best-known systems. These solutions are built into a special area of the hard drive, where they are protected from viruses, user errors, hackers, and corruption. Phoenix is headquartered in Milpitas, Calif. USA (Silicon Valley), with offices in global business and technology centers. Visit http://www.phoenix.com/
