American Arium Rolls Out SourcePoint 7.0 Debugging Tool

4/26/2004 - American Arium, an industry leader in software debug and integration tool development, announced the latest release of SourcePointTM 7.0, its flagship debug interface. SourcePoint 7.0 supports the latest Intel® Pentium® 4 processors at all operating frequencies, Intel 64-bit extensions to 32-bit processors, and AMD OpteronTM and AlthonTM 64 processors. The software offers a number of new features, including debug in an integrated development environment (IDE) and hot plugging. SourcePoint 7.0 works in concert with the Arium ECM-50 emulator.

"SourcePoint 7.0 incorporates support for the AMD64 family of processors, which is an obvious fit for us. We look forward to working even more closely with this company while continuing our long-term commitment to Intel," said Larry Traylor, Arium's CEO. "7.0 wasn't developed just to add new processors to the list. It was developed in direct response to requests from our customers, especially in the areas of live debug from a hang and to OS boot. We wanted to show them we're out there listening to them and responding to their needs."

Traylor was referring in part to "hot plugging" into the newest release of their software. Developers now can plug the ECM-50 into their targets and initiate a debug session at the point at which their code hung without resetting the target.

SourcePoint IDE offers source code editing "on the fly," powered by Visual SlickEdit®, that ships under a separate license on the SourcePoint CD. Together, SourcePoint and SourcePoint IDE allow users to move back and forth between the debugger and the code editor with ease.

Other new features in SourcePoint 7.0 include:

The SourcePoint 7.0/ECM-50 debug solution offers execution trace (depending on the processor) and outstanding run control, giving the program developer unsurpassed visibility to code via a series of intuitive screens and dialogs with numerous viewing options. SourcePoint operates in real time with all core frequencies and works with today's most popular compiler tool chains. It supports industry-standard input file formats and includes a robust C-like command language.
