VARBusiness Magazine Honors Phoenix Technologies with Two Awards

4/16/2004 - Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: PTEC), the company driving the global core system software standard in PC systems and connected digital devices for 25 years, has received two honors in CMP Media's VARBusiness Magazine Partner Power issue. Phoenix was given a Five Star designation based on the breadth and depth of its offerings to the reseller community, and the company was singled out for the Best in Class award for the marketing support it provides to channel partners.

"Our channel partners are an essential part of our business strategy," said Michael Goldgof, Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Products Division for Phoenix. "They make it easier for us to extend our reach into new customer segments, including the important small- and medium-size business (SMB) market. In return, we help them connect to other partners, become more profitable, and spend their marketing dollars effectively. We are very happy with this award because it says that our efforts do have value for our partners."

Phoenix has developed several programs and tools for its channel partners, including a partner locator to help increase visibility, product updates with sales information and tools, interactive discussion and training, a centralized resource center, and on-demand customized collateral that can be co-branded.

Robert Danese, Executive Director of NASBA said, "Phoenix has been outstanding in its partner support, especially over the last year, when I have witnessed the company's evolution in the marketplace. The company has grown as an alliance partner, strengthened its presence in the partner space, and is now recognized as major player in the VAR and system builder market. They have expanded their online resources, developed geo marketing resources, and have created co-marketing opportunities to make resellers successful."

In describing Phoenix marketing support for the Best in Class award, VARBusiness Managing Editor Steven Lang said, "With Phoenix Technologies, systems builders get help spreading the word. The vendor's innovative Phoenix Trusted Builder initiative gives preferred-tier systems builders a dedicated marketing manager who helps develop go-to-market plans linked to the Phoenix quarterly marketing plan. The synchronization allows stronger customer-focused messages and cost savings due to integrated activities."

To determine the most robust vendor-partner programs and to determine those with a five-star ranking, VARBusiness invited IT vendors to submit descriptions of their channel partner programs between November 2003 and January 2004. The programs were scored on breadth and depth of program elements within each program. Results were tabulated by Answers Research, a Solana Beach, Calif.-based market research and consulting firm.
