4/13/2004 - Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTEC), the company driving the global core system software standard in PC systems and connected digital devices for 25 years, announced that TriGem, Korea's largest PC original design manufacturer and exporter, will include Phoenix FirstWare® Recover Pro in its desktop and notebook PCs beginning this quarter. This will allow users to restore factory-installed software and user data without recovery CDs, delivering increased productivity while reducing support costs. TriGem will also use the Phoenix integration toolkit for installing additional applications to a special protected area of its products' hard drives.
"Users depend much more on their PCs today, so they also expect more," said Park Il Hwan, President and CEO for TriGem. "They want machines that are secure, simple to use and easy to maintain. Phoenix FirstWare Recover Pro allows us to give users exactly what they need - products that help them restore their machines easily and quickly. This means they can maintain productivity almost anywhere, even when offline, which is especially beneficial for the mobile workforce. Phoenix FirstWare Recover Pro also helps companies save money by reducing IT support costs and helping to maintain business continuity."
Phoenix FirstWare Recover Pro is the award-winning Phoenix Core Managed Environment (cMETM) certified application that allows PC and notebook users to restore their PCs to working order quickly and easily. By incorporating Phoenix advanced technology into new PCs, TriGem lets users restore systems applications to original factory settings, to restore the entire approved corporate image, or to restore uncorrupted versions of user data, all without needing a boot disk, network connection or recovery CD.
"TriGem is a recognized leader in the PC industry," said Michael Goldgof, Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Products Division for Phoenix. "Their selection of Phoenix FirstWare Recover Pro will make TriGem PCs more valuable because users can recover their own systems and data. This ensures business continuity, it makes workers more productive, and it allows the technical staff to devote their expertise to more complex issues."
Phoenix FirstWare Recover Pro application is also available through system builder channels, so enterprises can install it on existing machines.
About Phoenix FirstWare® Applications
Phoenix FirstWare applications reduce manufacturing and support costs for OEMs, "white box" manufacturers, system builders, resellers and distributors while providing more user value. These applications include Phoenix FirstWare Recover, Recover Pro, Recover Pro Network, Vault, Connect, and Check. In addition, Phoenix FirstWare Assistant provides instant pre-boot access to Microsoft Outlook email and PIM data, turning a laptop into a PDA.
