4/7/2004 - Intermec Technologies Corp. announced partnership in a series of RFID seminars with Sentinel Business Systems, a provider of rapid application development tools, transaction servers, hardware, services, media and support for enterprise data collection systems. The first seminar in the series, scheduled for 8 a.m., May 4, at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Shelton, Conn., will provide an overview of RFID technology, standards and hardware; best practices; software and integration considerations; and live demos of RFID in asset tracking, shipping and receiving applications.
Intermec and Sentinel will continue the series on May 6 at the Renaissance Boston Bedford Hotel in Bedford, Mass., and on May 13 at the Somerset Marriott Hotel in Somerset, New Jersey.
“Intermec brings years of RFID development and implementation experience to the attendees of this seminar series,” said Sentinel Vice President Gary Lemay. “Together, Intermec and Sentinel are giving suppliers the crucial information needed for successful RFID implementation.”
RFID, a complement to current bar code-based tracking systems, allows companies to automatically track inventory throughout an entire supply chain. Intermec RFID already is at work throughout the world, deployed in wide-ranging applications that include inventory and asset management, access control, compliance tracking, and personnel and vehicle identification.
“Intermec understands the challenges suppliers face when trying to separate RFID fact from fiction,” said Intermec Vice President Scott Medford. “This RFID series will help attendees face these challenges, giving them the tools to make smart decisions to accomplish both their business and technical goals.”
