4/5/2004 - IONA® (NASDAQ: IONA), a world leader in high performance integration solutions for mission critical IT environments, published the schedule for the upcoming “Discover Web Services” training session. Dates and locations for future sessions will be announced as they are confirmed.
Built on the highly successful IONA Web Services Foundation Course that debuted at COMDEX 2003, “Discover Web Services” provides business and technology executives with a daylong education venue that demonstrates how organizations can make the most of today’s new technologies and strategies. The course format offers participants an opportunity to hear the latest Web services thinking from noted industry visionaries such as Dr. Sean Baker, chief corporate scientist and co-founder, IONA Technologies, or Eric Newcomer, chief technology officer, IONA Technologies. Topics include an introduction to Web services standards and technologies such as XML, SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI, demonstrations of popular Web services development toolkits such as XMLspy® and Visual Studio® , an introduction to Service Oriented Architecture, Web services best practices, and Web services future directions.
The next “Discover Web Services” training session in the series is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at the East Side Marriott, New York, New York. The course will be taught by Mr. Newcomer, best-selling author of Understanding Web Services (published in May 2002 by Addison-Wesley) and an active participant in the advancement of Web services standards.
“The hype around Web services distracts from the real benefits that enterprises are realizing now from the technology,” said Mr. Newcomer. “This Web Services Foundation Course, with its equal emphases on business and technology issues, gives participants an opportunity to cut through all of the hype and learn how to best incorporate Web services into their IT strategies for 2004 and the future.”
