3/30/2004 - Performance Technologies (Nasdaq NM: PTIX), a leader in unified systems design for the communications, military and commercial markets, introduced the IPnexusTM SG5600 Signaling Gateway Blade – a turnkey SS7/IP solution that reduces much of the burden associated with system development and integration, freeing telecom equipment vendors to focus their efforts on delivering high value solutions to customers.
The PICMG® 2.16-compatible SG5600 Blade is a true carrier-grade system-in-a-slot. It provides a signaling bridge between traditional telephone networks and burgeoning packet-switched voice over IP architectures. When used in conjunction with softswitches, media gateways and application servers, the SG5600 Blade provides the SS7 “on ramp” functionality to enable call control or service processing capabilities.
“In today's marketplace, reduced delivery times are crucial to remaining competitive. The IPnexus SG5600 Blade reduces integration time and allows development teams to focus their efforts on their customers' end solutions,” said Deb Brunner-Walker, product manager for Performance Technologies. “Additionally, the distributed software architecture of the SG5600 Blade allows for superior reliability, comparable to that of fault-tolerant, five-nines systems.”
The SG5600 Blade supports the latest IETF SIGTRAN protocol suite (SCTP, M3UA) in a redundant network architecture, which greatly enhances the reliability of SS7 transport over IP. The comprehensive SS7/IP gateway architecture is based on the popular NexusWareTM distributed software functionality that is common to Performance Technologies' complete line of signaling gateways. Performance Technologies' Linux-based NexusWare development environment raises the level at which system integration is performed, providing a simpler and more rapid way to develop IP-based systems.
