Telrad Selects Agilent's Automated X-ray Test System for PCB Assemblies

3/24/2004 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that Telrad Networks, a global leader in telecommunications infrastructure deployment, has selected the Agilent 5DX Series automated X-ray test system to create a complete test solution for its complex printed circuit board assemblies (PCAs). The Agilent 5DX provides the industry-leading fault coverage and higher quality needed for testing complex PCAs used in next-generation telecommunications systems, such as switches, routers and media gateways.

"Telrad delivers some of the telecommunications industry's most advanced, carrier-class systems for transmitting and directing traffic across the Internet backbone," said Yossi Ben-Harosh, vice president of operations, Telrad Networks. "Our advanced systems need advanced testing. The Agilent 5DX exceeds the required test coverage for our most complex assemblies, enabling us to deliver reliable next-generation networks across the globe."

The Agilent 5DX finds defects in solder joints, resulting in higher end-product quality and lower warranty repair and scrap costs. The system achieves more than 90 percent fault coverage, making it the industry's most effective solution for defect containment and post re-flow.

"With boards in telecommunications applications steadily increasing in complexity, companies seek test solutions that deliver the fault coverage necessary to ensure that reliable, defect-free products are shipped to market," said John Spofford, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Manufacturing Test Business Unit. "The Agilent 5DX Series is unsurpassed in fault coverage, making it the test system of choice for companies engaging in the most complex designs."
