3/23/2004 - TTPCom Ltd, the world’s leading independent supplier of digital wireless technology, launches the ITM320 series of Triband GPRS modules. The series consists of two type approved product variants, the ITM3208 supporting 850, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequency bands; and the ITM3209 supporting 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequency bands. Both modules are GPRS Class 10, enabling data rates in excess of 83.2kbps, and support the Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) speech codec.
The ITM3208 and ITM3209 modules support both AT Commands and SIM Toolkit 99 enabling them to be easily customised for a wide range of applications, from commercial Machine-to-Machine asset management to Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and Laptops. The modules are compact, measuring just 48mm by 35mm, and fully utilise TTPCom’s world leading protocol software that featured in over 23 million mobile devices in 2003. The modules are also certified to meet all relevant regulatory approvals including R&TTE, GCF, MII (China), PTCRB and FCC (USA).
John Barber, Managing Director of TTPCom’s Terminals Business Unit commented “From the very start these modules have been designed and specified to work in a range of end products, from vending machines and in-vehicle systems, to industrial handheld terminals and PDAs. TTPCom’s vast experience in wireless communications means that licensees of the ITM320 module can confidently add significant value to their leading devices with our cellular technology.” He added, “The first licensee of the ITM320 series module is scheduled to ship their product in July 2004.”
