AMS Selects Pentland Systems for Digital Radar Receiver Technology

3/22/2004 - Pentland Systems Ltd., a world-leading supplier of signal acquisition technology to the defence electronics industry, has been awarded a new contract worth over £1million ($1.8million) by AMS, Chelmsford, UK. Pentland Systems is to provide its flagship digital Radar receiver technology for use in the major Seawolf Mid Life Update (SWMLU) programme.

The Seawolf System is a fully automatic, all weather, day and night Naval Defence Missile System, designed to protect surface ships from airborne attack. The Guided Weapon System is fitted to the RN Type 22 and 23 Frigates. The Mid Life Update programme will provide a significantly enhanced capability to the existing system to counter an evolving threat.

Pentland Systems is supplying the full complement of subsystem interfacing products for the Radar A processor, including Radar receiver and analog I/O technologies. This success builds upon the award in early 2003 to Pentland for supply of analog I/O and Synchro/Resolver products to the Seawolf Command & Control processor upgrade.

Commenting on the success, John Walker, VP of Marketing at Pentland Systems, said, “This award, combined with our recent successes in the US region, demonstrates our status as a leading supplier of signal acquisition technology to the defence electronics industry. Our market demands a partner that can work closely at contractual and technical levels with Prime Contractors and has complete commitment to total lifecycle support. AMS, among other major primes, has full confidence in Pentland Systems to deliver against these requirements.”
