3/16/2004 - White Electronic Designs Corporation (NASDAQ:WEDC) announced the availability of its 64MByte Flash 3V, designed to compliment high performance processors and memory controllers.
White’s 64MByte (512Mb) memory component is user configurable as 8M x 64, 2 banks of 8M x 32 or 4 banks of 8M x 16. It offers a 31% space savings versus equivalent density in chip scale packages, 50% I/O reduction and reduced part count. The page mode feature allows access times up to 25ns and eight word fast page read access.
This new device features access times of 70, 90, 100 and 120ns. Simultaneous Read/Write functionality enables eight continuous read from one bank while executing erase/ program functions in another bank, with zero latency switching from read to write operations. Four separate banks provide up to two simultaneous operations per device. Available I/O voltage options include 1.8V and 3.V.
The NOR based Flash is 64MBytes on a 13mm x 22mm, 159 plastic ball grid array (PBGA), 286mm2. It is suitable for high performance applications such as defense and aerospace.

The 8M x 64 Flash, defined as part number W78M64V-XSBX, is priced at $300.00 (US) each in volumes of 1,000 pieces (military temperature units) with a lead-time of 6 weeks.
