3/12/2004 - SoftekTM, a leading provider of storage management software, announced that Ford Motor Company recently migrated more than 125 TB of data using Softek TDMF, the industry-leading data migration solution.
Ford completed the massive migration within the data center at its Dearborn, Mich., headquarters as part of a storage refresh. Using the platform-independent solution from Softek, Ford migrated data to IBM Shark mainframe devices from storage produced by other vendors.
The ease-of-use of Softek TDMF enabled Ford to manage the migration internally, simplifying the project and giving Ford more control over the mission-critical data from its business applications. In addition, the Softek solution facilitated completion of the migration without any downtime to applications, making the migration transparent to end users.
“We are very pleased that Softek TDMF helped Ford migrate a large amount of data in an efficient fashion without impacting business operations,” said Karen Dutch, Softek vice president of product management. “We provide customers the software solutions they need to avoid vendor lock-in and to seamlessly manage heterogeneous storage environments.”
