3/11/2004 - Concurrent Computer Corporation (NASDAQ: CCUR), a worldwide leader of on-demand technology that is shaping the future of television, announced plans to team with Cox Communications (NYSE: COX) to present one of the hottest on-demand branding opportunities for the broadband operator at the Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) Digital and Broadband Conference from March 9-11 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, Calif.
In 2002, Cox San Diego launched the first-of-its-kind Video-On-Demand (VOD) channel that offered subscribers a slate of free entertainment and commercial information made possible by advertising support – FreeZone. Cox was among the first cable operators to present ad-supported content in the VOD world and to test this new concept as a viable revenue model for the industry. Fast-forward to 2004, and Long-Format Advertising (LFA) is no longer a concept, but is a unique VOD offering that delivers a real differentiator for cable operators. Concurrent will be highlighting Cox’s FreeZone application at its CTAM exhibit.
Cox FreeZone Features
LFA enables digital cable subscribers to have an interactive, advertising VOD session – at their discretion – simply by pushing a button on their remote control. Server-based LFA can be offered as incremental digital interactive services, translating into new revenue generation from advertisers.
