Trolltech Simplifies Software Development with New Tools and Components
3/10/2004 - Trolltech®, the leader in multiplatform development frameworks, announced the second release for Qt Solutions.
Qt Solutions provide industry and platform specific tools and components that are designed to plug directly into Qt based development projects. Qt Solutions increases the range of Qt, while simplifying Qt development even further.
New Qt Solutions tools and components include:
- Qt Translation preview tool:
This tool assists translators in the work of localizing a Qt application. It allows the translator to see the localized version of a Qt GUI without having access to the actual running Qt application. This is useful when the localization task has been outsourced, or when development and localization tasks are being executed in parallel. The Qt Translation preview tool only needs the forms files created by the Qt Designer visual GUI builder. - Qt Object Inspector:
This tool provides various visual representations of the internal structure of a Qt application. It is useful for programmers and software architects during development and debugging, or when working to familiarize themselves with the internal workings of a large application written by others. Qt Object Inspector can connect to a running Qt application and:- Draw its QObject tree
- Draw the signal/slot connection graph for any QObject
- Display current property values for any QObject
- Report activation of signals and slots as they happen
- QtColorPicker:
A widget that lets the user select colors from a grid of predefined colors. - QtColorComboBox:
A combobox widget with colors and texts. - QtColorTriangle:
A color selection widget based on the hue-saturation-value (HSV) color model. The color space is presented as a triangle and ring, making it easy for users to precisely choose the color and shade they want.
The color widgets are particularly useful for developers of graphics, imaging, and visualization applications.
This release also includes numerous enhancements to existing Qt Solutions components, such as the QtSoap, QtPieMenu and QtUndo/Redo components.

Availability
Currently, all the Qt Solutions mentioned are freely available to Qt Enterprise licensees. Some components are available under dual open source and commercial licenses.
