3/10/2004 - White Electronic Designs Corporation (NASDAQ:WEDC) introduces their new 32M x 72 DDR SDRAM. This product is the latest member of WEDC’s high-density, high-performance family of Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM’s that have been designed to support high performance processors.
White’s industry leading 256MByte (2Gb) DDR SDRAM features DDR SDRAM rates of 200, 250 and 266. Each chip includes four internal banks for concurrent operation, has bidirectional data strobe (DQS) per byte and differential clock inputs.
Benefits include space savings of 73% versus a discrete design using Thin Small Outline Package (TSOP) and 44% versus Fine Pitch Ball Grid Array (FPBGA), a 37% reduction in I/O versus TSOP and a 31% reduction versus FPBGA and reduced trace lengths for lower parasitic capacitance. Additionally, the component has a reduced part count and laminate interposer for optimum TCE match.
The package organized as 32M x 72, utilizes internal die stacking technology in a 16mm x 22mm, 208 plastic ball grid array (PBGA), 352mm2, with a 3.12mm maximum package body thickness. It is suitable for high-reliability applications and is available in commercial, industrial and military temperature ranges.
Pricing and Availability
White’s 32M x 72 DDR SDRAM, part number W3E32M72S-XSBX, is priced at $250.00 (US) each in volumes of 1,000 pieces with a lead-time of 6-8 weeks.
