White Electronic Designs Unveils 16Mx72 Registered DDR SDRAM

3/5/2004 - White Electronic Designs Corporation (NASDAQ:WEDC) announced the availability of its 1Gb (128MB) Registered DDR SDRAM MCP. This advanced component features increased density, higher performance, space savings and Input/ Output (I/O) reductions compared to discrete solutions.

White’s 16M x 72 SDRAM is registered for enhanced performance with Data Rate Frequencies of 200, 225 and 250MHz. It features bidirectional data strobe (DQS) transmitted per byte, DQS edge-aligned with data for READs and center aligned with data for WRITEs. The component uses internal pipelined double data rate (DDR) architecture with two data accessed per clock cycle and four internal banks for concurrent operation.

Benefits include a 47% space savings, 49% I/O reduction and reduced part count when compared to discrete solutions. The component offers glueless connection to memory controller/ PCI Bridge. It is organized as 16M x 72 and packaged in a 32mm x 25mm, 219 plastic ball grid array (PBGA), 800mm2 with a 1.27mm pitch. The product is upgradeable to 32M x 72; it is suitable for high performance/high density applications including high-reliability and is available in commercial, industrial and military temperature ranges.

Pricing and Availability
The 16M x 72 Registered DDR SDRAM MCP, defined as part number W3E16M72SR-XBM, is priced under $200.00 (US) each in volumes of 1,000 pieces with a lead-time of 6-8 weeks.
