Mercury Computer Opens Future Combat Systems Project Office

3/4/2004 - Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY), announced the formation of the Future Combat Systems Project Office to coordinate the company’s on-going activities in the Future Combat Systems (FCS) market space. As part of Mercury’s worldwide Defense Electronics Group, the FCS Project Office facilitates access to Mercury’s signal and image processing products and technologies for sensor companies competing for business in the United States Army’s transformational Future Combat Systems program.

"Mercury’s digital signal and image processing technologies are the foundation of our strong relationships with the key Future Combat System contractors and integrators," said Barry Isenstein, vice president and general manager, Defense Electronics Group, at Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. "The Future Combat Systems Project Office brings the power of these relationships and technologies to sensor system bidders through a variety of business models, including standard product, technology licensing, and custom variations on standard product. The FCS Project Office enables developers to address the challenges and opportunities that spiral development brings."

Mercury is the leader in key FCS technologies including sensor data processing for modalities such as radar, signals intelligence (SIGINT), communications intelligence (COMINT), electro-optic/infrared (EO/IR), and sensor fusion. Based on open standards and leveraging Mercury’s expertise in packaging embedded multicomputers for ruggedness and performance density, these systems are field-proven in most of today’s premier deployed sensor systems. Mercury is also active in developing new products optimized specifically for the demands of FCS applications. Mercury’s FCS Project Office enables FCS system bidders to leverage this demonstrated expertise.
