Triscend Unveils Development Platform for A7V Configurable SoC

3/4/2004 - Triscend, the pioneer and leader in configurable system-on-chip (CSoC) devices and customizable microcontrollers, announced the availability of its latest Configurable Development Platform (CDP) based on the recently announced A7V product family. The A7V CDP provides an advanced and flexible solution for creating customized embedded system designs, facilitating hardware and software co-design and co-verification, thereby accelerating time-to-market and reducing the cost of product development.

The A7V CDP provides a comprehensive and highly flexible environment targeting a wide range of vertical applications including Electronic Motor Drive, Industrial Control and Voice-over-Internet Protocol. The complete solution—including the A7V development board, FastChip® CSoC StudioTM Development System, Software Development Tools, and royalty-free IP modules—is ideal for developing reference designs, hardware and software prototyping and verification.

The hardware development tools of the A7V CDP feature a compact base board with full expansion capabilities. The board includes the A7V CSoC, 64 MB SDRAM, 16 MB Flash, 4Kb Serial EPROM, Real-time Clock, and accessible interfaces to the A7V’s built-in peripherals such as the 10/100 Ethernet, CAN 2.0B, USB, ADC, and several serial interfaces. The on-chip, JTAG debug feature allows for control and monitoring of cycle transactions and provides complete system verification.

The software development tools of the A7V CDP include a FastChip CSoC Studio Development System license and Triscend Software Development Kit (SDK). FastChip is the first embedded system development environment to seamlessly combine development tools and flow for hardware and software engineers. It includes a rich library of drag-and-drop hardware IP modules and a set of software-driver source code that allows designers to quickly create highly customized, feature-rich applications. Time-to-production is minimized through simultaneous hardware and software design, development and debugging. Triscend’s SDK includes GNU Compiler Collection (GCC), GNU Debugger (GDB), device driver source code for A7V on-chip peripherals, sample applications and board support packages (BSPs) for various operating systems including VxWorks, µClinux, eCos, and µC/OS-II.
