3/3/2004 - Extended Systems (NASDAQ: XTND), a leading provider of mobile application solutions for the enterprise, has been designated by Canada's leading wireless communications service provider, Rogers AT&T (TSE: RCM.B; NYSE: RCN), as a preferred vendor to enable the delivery of wireless application data to Rogers AT&T enterprise customers.
The companies have signed a partnership agreement that calls for Rogers AT&T sales and marketing teams to immediately begin introducing Extended Systems' OneBridge Mobile Solutions Platform software to Rogers' corporate accounts. Rogers AT&T serves nearly 3.8 million wireless customers with GSM/GPRS networks covering 93% of the Canadian population.
This move allows Rogers to offer a comprehensive platform to enterprise customers who are deploying integrated PDA/phone devices for wireless e-mail but are looking beyond e-mail to the mobilization of strategic business applications such as CRM, ERP and SFA. With Extended Systems' OneBridge Mobile Solutions suite in its wireless kit, Rogers can now help companies reap the benefits of improved operational efficiencies through the mobilization of business applications. In addition, the move enables Rogers to increase data traffic over its wireless network.
"Wireless e-mail is essential, but the mobilization of mission-critical business applications is what will give the enterprise the biggest return on its investment," said Extended Systems' CEO and President Charles Jepson. "Research has shown that more than 80 percent of companies choose wireless e-mail as their first mobile deployment.* With our OneBridge Mobile Solutions, Rogers can provide wireless e-mail today while providing customers with a foundation upon which to mobilize other enterprise applications in the future."
"Our customers have been asking for a secure and scalable mobile application solution that will allow them to push additional data across the Rogers wireless network," said Rupert Auchterlonie, Director of Data Channel Partners at Rogers AT&T. "With OneBridge, we can offer them a solid mobile platform solution that can deliver data to any type of device."
