Sun Offers Upgrade and Trade-in Allowance Program to Qualified Customers

3/2/2004 - Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) continues to provide strategic value and performance to its customers with the latest announcement of an upgrade and trade-in allowance program for customers upgrading legacy Sun or non-Sun products and systems to new Sun Fire servers, UltraSPARC(R) processor-based Uniboards, and Sun StorEdge hardware. These offers are available to qualified customers.

  • UltraSPARC IV-based Sun Fire Server Upgrades – Sun offers promotional trade-in allowances of up to 40 percent towards UltraSPARC IV upgrades from Sun Fire 4800, 6800, 12K and 15K midrange and high-end servers. Customers purchasing UltraSPARC III-based Sun Fire servers between now and June 30, 2004 are eligible to upgrade to UltraSPARC IV under this promotion through June 30, 2005.
  • Sun Fire 6800 Server Upgrades – Sun is currently offering a promotional trade-in allowance of up to 30 percent for qualified Sun and non-Sun systems toward the purchase of a new Sun Fire 6800 server. This offer is good through June 13, 2004.
  • UltraSPARC III-based 1.2GHz Uniboard Upgrade – Sun is currently offering a trade-in allowance of up to 35 percent for upgrades from qualified UltraSPARC III Sun Fire Uniboards toward the purchase of replacement UltraSPARC III 1.2GHz Uniboards. This offer is available through March 27, 2004.
  • Sun Fire UltraSPARC IV Processor-Based Server Upgrade Programs – Sun has announced comprehensive upgrade and trade-in programs for qualified Sun and non-Sun servers toward the purchase of replacement Sun Fire UltraSPARC IV mid-range or high-end servers and components under the Sun Upgrade Advantage Program (UAP). This program is ongoing.
  • Simplify and Save: Sun Fire Servers and StorEdge 6000 Series Promotion – Sun provides savings up to 30 percent on any Sun StorEdge 6000 series product for qualified customers purchasing selected Sun Fire servers as part of an integrated product sale. This promotion will run through September 30.
