Agilent Unveils Wireless Application Measurement Software

3/1/2004 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced its new Wireless Application Measurement Software (WAMS), the central component of its Data Service Assurance Program. WAMS enables RF engineering teams to automate data traffic, quantify wireless data user experience and find the cause of problems through leading visualization and analysis tools, thereby reducing the cost of wireless data rollout.

WAMS enables RF engineers to build complex serial and parallel test sequences via an easy-to-use and customizable interface. Tests are independent of wireless technology and include MMS (multimedia message service), SMS (short message service), HTTP, FTP, e-mail, WAP (wireless application protocol), and PING. Measurements provided by WAMS include data throughput, TCP connection time, server response time, total response time, authentication time, download time, redirect time and server availability. These results can be monitored near real-time or analyzed offline, providing a powerful set of measurements to resolve wireless data implementation issues early.

WAMS runs on the Agilent E6474A Wireless Network Optimization Platform to give close coupling of the WAMS data test results with drive-test RF, mobile and protocol measurements.
