Aspex Selects Philips to Manufacture Linedancer Programmable Devices
3/1/2004 - Aspex Technology, a fabless semiconductor company delivering ultra high-performance, programmable processors, announced that it is using Philips Semiconductors to manufacture its Linedancer family of devices, and in doing so guaranteeing supply.
Within the semiconductor industry, analysts are reporting an upturn in chip manufacturing and as fabs reach capacity there is an increased business risk without a strong foundry supply chain relationship. Aspex recognises as a fabless company focused on designing unique devices it is important to be able to provide a guaranteed supply chain for their customers. Philips Semiconductors have signed a manufacturing agreement which guarantees this to Aspex end customers and more.
Philips Semiconductors use of internationally recognised quality standards for production and testing and their ability to support Aspex with backend technical issues such as crosstalk means Aspex is able to provide a superior quality product to their customers.
The Aspex Linedancer device was ported from a 0.18µm process to Philips manufacturing on a 01.3µm process and in doing so has achieved an increase in speed to 400MHz. Philips Semiconductors are also able to provide Aspex with a future roadmap to 0.90µm, 0.65µm and 0.45µm. This ensures Aspex stays at the forefront of market evolution.
